I remember doing a unit with The Outsiders in seventh grade. I think you picked good themes to talk about because looking back on when I read the novel all I really remember is how it relates to society's judgements and loyalty in life. Well, that and, "Stay gold, Ponyboy!" I also agree with what you said, these themes are relatable to students today which makes a classic like this still relevant. I think I'm going to have to end up reading this book for another class, and I'm looking forward to analyzing the classic text again.
